It’s Not You, It’s Me

Wonder where I’ve been for the past 9 months? New Year, New Me? was the title of my last blog post on January 8, 2017. Needless to say, I didn’t keep up with a lot of my goals in that post…one being that I was going to blog more often…ahem. Um… yea… about that. It’s not you, it’s me.

In January, I was in a boot, recovering from a foot stress fracture after the NYC Marathon. On October 8, 2017, I finished the Chicago Marathon–my fourth! Honestly, there were so many times in training, for so many reasons, I wasn’t sure I would make it to the starting line or even if I wanted to.

But, I enjoyed every mile of the race, rejoicing in the culmination of hard work and perseverance. The race didn’t go as I had planned (I hope to have a race recap soon), but coming in a close second in terms of enjoyment after my very first marathon, I really enjoyed the race! Thanks to those of you who have continued to encourage me on IG and rooted for me during the days leading up to the race. You have no idea how much it meant to me.

So, I’m back. Dipping my toe in the proverbial water.

What’s next? To keep learning, growing, and being the best me.

  2. Oh Sonia, I’m so sorry you had to experience such a devastating heartbreak. No matter the circumstances, divorce is tragic, painful and leaves life-long scars for everyone involved. However, as you’ve obviously discovered, its fire forges a stronger, wiser and more appreciative person. Praying for continued healing and peace for you and your children!

It’s wonderful to see you back in the blogging world and congratulations on Chicago …I’m sure it was like a soothing balm to cross that finish line on such a significant date! xoxo

  6. I had no idea – I’m so sorry 😦 But you are a STRONG woman and thank you for sharing your truth with us on this blog. I was married for 4 years but I’ve been divorced for 5 years. Running and fitness definitely helped me a lot on my journey to my new life. I’m glad running has been able to help you too!
